Adding photos

  1. Open a site from the Sites tab.
  2. Scroll to the Photos section and tap Add Photo.
  3. Choose an option:
    • Take Photo — opens the camera directly.
    • Choose From Library — opens your photo library to select one or more photos.

Photos are immediately added to the site.


Photo categories

Each photo can be tagged with one category to indicate what stage of the work it shows.

Category Use for
General Any general documentation
Before Site condition before work begins
After Site condition after work is complete
Progress Mid-job documentation
Issue Problems or snags found on site
Completion Final sign-off shots

To set or change the category, open a photo and tap the category label below the image.


Filtering photos by category

  1. In the Photos section of a site, tap the filter icon (or Sort menu).
  2. Under Category, tap a category name to show only those photos.
  3. Tap All to clear the filter.

Photo captions

  1. Open a photo from a site.
  2. Tap Caption.
  3. Type a short caption and tap Save.

The caption appears below the photo in the detail view.


Photo notes

Notes are longer text entries attached to a photo.

  1. Open a photo.
  2. Tap Add Note.
  3. Type your note in the Note field (the prompt says Enter your note…).
  4. Tap Save.

Notes appear in the NOTES section below the photo. Multiple notes can be added to a single photo.


Photo annotations (Markup)

Mark up a photo with drawings, arrows, or highlights to call attention to specific areas.

  1. Open a photo.
  2. Tap Markup (or Edit Markup if annotations already exist).
  3. Use the markup tools to draw on the image.
  4. Tap Save when done, or Cancel to discard changes.

Clearing annotations

  1. Open a photo with existing annotations.
  2. Tap Edit Markup.
  3. Tap Clear Annotations and confirm with Clear All.

Sorting photos

Control the order photos appear within a site.

  1. In the Photos section, tap the Sort menu.
  2. Choose a sort option:
Option Description
Upload date (newest) Most recently added to OnSite first
Upload date (oldest) Oldest additions first
Capture date (newest) Most recently taken first (uses photo EXIF date)
Capture date (oldest) Oldest capture date first

Photo metadata

Each photo can display technical metadata from the original image file.

  1. Open a photo.
  2. Scroll down and tap Advanced to expand the metadata section.

Available metadata fields (when present in the image):

  • Place — location name
  • Coordinates — GPS latitude and longitude
  • Camera — camera model
  • Lens — lens model
  • Focal Length
  • Aperture
  • Shutter Speed
  • ISO
  • Dimensions — pixel width × height
  • Date Taken — the original capture time from the camera

If the photo has no embedded metadata, OnSite shows Advanced information unavailable.


When viewing a photo in detail, swipe left or right to move between photos for that site. The X of X indicator at the top shows your position.
